You know it's going to happen. People will take something that is not theirs and there won't be anyone to stop them from tearing up the local Walmart or beer dist. and /or liquor store. I can almost picture it, two drunks fighting over a case of warm beer and a bag of smashed pretzels.
My neighborhood is pretty quiet, not much happens around here that would warrant media coverage and I don't think COPS would want to film an episode here. Within four miles of my home is the city limits of Pittsburgh, and I believe the source of the majority of the looters will come from. I don't want to sound racist by saying this, but I would bet you my last can of pork n beans that there will be groups of the city dwellers coming out to the 'burbs looking for food, fuel,
booze, etc. These groups need to be stopped as quickly as possible by any means necessary. I'm not saying shoot 'em and chop off their heads, but a strong deterence must be established.
Let's assume that our police will be out of the picture due whatever reason, we as a community will have to take place to ensure the safety of our families and property.Sentry posts, roving patrols, and signs and nooses swinging from trees should get the point across to any group thinking about coming around us.
Municipal cutbacks are already here... Police forces are experiencing budget shortfalls. Being so near a major metropolitan area, security is gonna be a major concern. Especially of your area is considered "quiet". Police patrols won't increase in your area until it experiences a major increase in crime. Better to network with neighbors and nip it in the bud before it starts.....
ReplyDeletesentry posts, and roving patrols require lots of group co-operation, which could lead to OPSEC headaches. the nooses if deployed too early will invite a federal response. i concur that your home should be fortified, but i would keep "bug-out" available as a plan C option.
ReplyDeleteHello to a fellow west Pennsylvanian, 4 miles from the "Burg"? You'll be toast within 12 hours from when the fires start. When it starts, your local law will be giving assistance to the city. They won't be coming back. Where it will start? Homewood, brushtown, Mexican war (Pao Alto). Hell, there's a body count every day from Pao Alto. I forgot Hazelwood and Homestead. Don't homestead look like lebanon after the bombing? Point is, if you're inside the orange belt, I'll say a prayer for ya. another clue...look for graffiti in your neighborhood, then look it up on the web...I'm out near greensburg and I'm still bugging out. And with all due respect to Mayberry, pittsburg cops are some mean mothers, gangs will take most of them out at the very first. Half of the PAARNG (National Guard) I know are/ were gangbangers. and half of those are multi tour combat vets.
ReplyDeleteTake a good look around and think it over again...
I think more of the inner city gangs will move east and north of the city due to bottlenecks that I'm sure will develop at the bridges over the rivers. The path of least resistance will probably be the one taken.
ReplyDeleteI don't plan on taken over southern Allegheny county so I don't plan on havig too many patrols or roadblocks. The area to be secured should probably only be a few square blocks at most to begin with, depending how many people are to be in the secure area.
i feel that when it happens (not if) most will go west and south , but none have the gas supply to go far orany thing else to support them selfs. so look out when the cars stop and the walking begins. no one will be safe, lord help those in say wilkinsburgh, homewood wont be pretty
